|A living light
Mystic, author, abbess, artist and composer, Hildegard of Bingen (1098-1179) was the topic of a symposium this fall sponsored by the Center for Norbertine Studies at St. Norbert College. Hear Ed Risden (English) speak on “Hildegard as Intellectual: The Spiritual and Creative Muse.”
Risden’s fascination for Bingen and her works found fruit in a play of his that was performed at the college a few years ago and has since been published in novel form under the title “A Living Light.” (2009)
The audio is 10 minutes long.
Left: “Universal Man” (1165) is one of a series of illuminations from Liber Divinorum Operum that depict the visions of Hildegard.
